Redefining Health with God at the Center

For a few years, I had some big life changes: I moved across the country, got engaged, moved across the country again, got married, bought a house, started new jobs, etc. As time went on, my health started to decline and symptoms started adding up. Initially, I dealt with occasional brain fog and fatigue, and then eventually chronic pain and weight gain.

I tried making changes on my own, like eating clean for a month or two, or fitness challenges, but didn’t see sustained improvements. Eventually, I got tired of feeling tired! I reached out to Jackie whom I met while working in California. Based on my symptoms, she recommended a GI-Map to test my gut health. I was dealing with a leaky gut and the test confirmed that I have a sensitivity to gluten.

The test results in some ways were a relief — I was able to finally put words to how I had been feeling, but I was also nervous about making so many changes at once. Jackie was very encouraging and available to support me every step of the way. I also learned a lot from her about the spiritual component of my healing and implemented daily prayer time. We did an elimination protocol for a few months where I changed what I ate, when I ate and included supplements to help realign my gut. By the end of the three months, my clothes were fitting better and I was seeing an improvement in my fatigue and brain fog.

After the protocol, Jackie reached out and asked if I wanted to retest in order to ensure that my leaky gut was on the mend. I put it off for a few weeks, not sure if it was worth it. Then another big change happened - I was let go from my job and the fatigue and brain fog were back in addition to anxiety and insomnia. I decided to retake the test.

Jackie likened the results to cleaning a pool for the first time in the summer. My initial protocol skimmed the surface, but once I got past that, there’s more to deal with. My second test showed more bacteria overgrowth in addition to a parasite. With her recommendation, I started another focused elimination protocol to address the bacteria overgrowth naturally. My initial die-off period was intense, but I knew that the protocol was working. Jackie was there to provide additional teaching on how to assist detox and checked in regularly.

During my protocol, Jackie reached out about a new program she was piloting, Reform Online LIVE. It’s a six-week program that focuses on the nine pillars of health where you can learn from her in a small group over Zoom. Since the bulk of our work together was on nutrition, I was excited to join to learn more about stress management, sleep, and cultivating space. Reform Online LIVE was pivotal for me - not only did I get to see the growth from the nutrition focus I had, but it helped integrate healing with God at the center. I discovered new ways of healthy living and a new definition of health that encompasses my whole self. (Disclaimer: I now work with Jackie to bring Reform Online LIVE to even more people!)

It’s been a year since I started working with Jackie and I finally feel like myself again. I’ve embraced a new way of eating that’s focused on whole foods and not on restriction or dieting. I’ve lost close to fifteen pounds by healing my gut through protocols and fasting. I sleep better and no longer need caffeine to wake me up. And from Reform Online LIVE, I have an entire toolkit that helps me continue to improve my health. I can see how God is working through Reform Wellness and I’m so grateful that He’s used Reform to heal me while giving me the tools for continued health.
