The Wish I Didn't Know I Made

I started working with Reform when I was two months from marrying my now husband, and didn’t want to start a new chapter of my life stuck in the same rut I was in. I had struggled with weight loss all of my adult life—constantly restricting what I couldn’t eat, yet binge eating all my favorite snacks as a “reward” when I did “good.” Later I would punish myself by eating bland salads as “healthy” meals. Honestly, I didn’t know anything about how to properly feed my body. I was constantly in a bad mood and never had the energy to do anything. I couldn’t think and always felt like I was in a fog. The cycle would continue every week: eat “good,” slip up, punish myself. I felt like I was slipping deeper and deeper into the dark hole and soon I wouldn’t be able to escape it.

Reform Wellness came into my life like a wish granted that I didn’t know I had asked for. From my first consultation with Jackie, I knew her program was a blessing from God that would help me to reform my life. Now, that’s not to say I wasn’t skeptical of everything when I was first introduced to her methods. “What does gut health have to do with mental health?” “What does managing my stress have to do with my waistline?” I had questions every time she would ask me to try something new. Slowly but surely, I learned to trust her. What I thought I knew about health and nutrition went quickly out the door.

My  journey with Reform was strictly motivated by weight loss: I really just wanted to lose the extra pounds. Little did I know that once I started working with Reform, weight loss would be the last issue on the list...in fact, weight loss wasn’t even one of our main goals. (What I wanted so badly wasn’t even a priority!?) We slowly started working on a personalized “wellness tool kit” that would eventually help me successfully meet my goals. Every session was something new: new reading materials, vitamins, nutrition, gut health, depression, even assignments to keep me on track throughout the week. No matter what I threw at Jackie, she always had the perfect response and paired it with the perfect routine to get me on track.

The pounds did start coming off, but at that point I wasn’t even worried about losing weight, because my body as a whole was feeling better than ever. I was eating food that was fueling my body and soul, literally treating my body like a temple.

Throughout my journey with Reform Wellness, I have learned that you are what you eat. I am in tears as I type this, because I never thought I would be at this place in my life: content with my body type/weight and overall in a state of pure happiness. This journey was not only for myself, but also for my family. I always joke with Jackie that I am a completely different person now, because that is really what it feels like. Prior to working with Reform, I would never have done any of the things I was suggested. This journey has not only helped me physically, but also mentally. It has helped me to grow as a wife, sister, friend, and hopefully soon-to-be mom! Now, because of Reform Wellness, I have all the tools I need to continue healing my body and help those close to me do the same.
